What is the value of working with an interior designer? What do we do at Blakely that goes above and beyond what you might expect — and is it absolutely worth every dime you invest?
I could share quite a few ideas here, but rather than telling you myself, I’ve asked some of Blakely’s clients to share their experiences with you. Here’s what they had to say about working with us and about living in a home designed just for them…
Value #1: A home design that goes beyond what you can imagine
The Ocean Meadow Project
John of the Ocean Meadow Project contracted us to redesign their oceanfront property in Narragansett. He shared:
“Working with the Blakely Team on this project could not have been more satisfying to us. The transformation of this 40-year-old property was very significant – we literally cut the house in half and rebuilt it into something remarkable.”
“Home construction and renovation has been a hobby and a passion of mine for over 30 years. While I thought I had a clear vision for what the new structure would look like, I lacked the interior design skills around scale, function, color and most importantly, aesthetic.”
“Upon reflection, (flying solo) I was on a path toward GOOD. The Blakely Team delivered GREAT.”

He also said:
“Janelle, Becky, and Judy ran a very rigorous process around design concepts, decision-making and execution that was extremely well organized. That’s how you get outcomes like the ones shown in the photographs.
“As I walk around today, I am amazed that the colors, materials, textures and emotions we wanted the home to convey shine through on every dimension. They delivered all of that and so much more. The property — the land, the location and the home are so special.
“The best outcomes happen when you surround yourself with people who are better than you, at their craft. If you can handle that, it can be beautiful.”
— John J., The Ocean Meadow Project, Narragansett
Value #2: A process you can trust to deliver
The Westcote Project
Jessica from The Westcote Project gives this advice to future Blakely clients:
“Trust the process. That is probably my biggest piece of advice when working with Blakely Interior Design. [Blakely] has an amazing process in place, and it definitely works.
“Getting to understand that the project is a process was the most difficult part for me at first. At the beginning, I just wanted the project done, but there is a process that needs to happen — to look at things, discuss things, eliminate things, and sometimes the direction changes, but learning to trust the process is what I had to do.
“By the end, I completely trusted [Blakely] and think they’re wonderful!”
— Jessica B., The Westcote Project, South Kingstown
Value #3: Expert budget management & long-term savings
The Taggart Project
When we met Beth and her husband Ken, from The Taggart Project, they had already contracted a set price with their builder. This meant working within certain budget constraints.
Beth said:
“Coming into the interior design process, I had no idea how much it would cost to furnish 8-10 rooms plus bathrooms. Once we were able to work with Blakely and look room by room and get a better idea of cost in different ranges, they were great in respecting that number but also looking for options that fit our aesthetic, in a range of price points.
“I valued their recommendation of spending less in one area of the home to spend more in another area, and that was absolutely the best advice. It helped us balance and keep the budget to where we needed it to be. It was certainly money well spent.”
Ken added:
“We tried to figure out what the cost to furnish the home would be in our particular situation, moving from a townhouse to this size home. We knew the cost associated with the furniture and accessories would be significant here.
“The cost of hiring Janelle and having her team manage that process was well worth it […] We had a new home that was completely furnished and accessorized in a timely fashion that exceeded our expectations, versus us piecing it all together over a period of years.
“We get feedback from friends who come into our home who have been in their homes for about 4 years now saying ‘I wish we had done this when we first bought the house.’ Hearing that makes every decision and cost worthwhile for us.”
— Ken and Beth D., The Taggart Project, East Greenwich
Value #4: A stress-free project from start to finish
The Safari Coastal Project
Denise from our Safari Coastal Project said:
“Working with the Blakely team was positive, stress-free, professional and organized. Their talent and creativity allowed us to achieve a stunning and cohesive look while reflecting our personal style. We are delighted with our results and look forward to continuing our next design project together!”
We love working with you too, Denise!
Meanwhile, Donald in New Jersey shared his experience before and after working with us:
“Before we decided to hire [Blakely], we were completely overwhelmed and had no idea where to start. The entire Blakely staff made the process not only easy, but actually fun.
“[Blakely] was incredibly responsive to our questions. The design options they came up with were so unique — we would have never thought of them — and at the same time, they took our tastes into consideration. In addition to the great design, they kept us on time and on budget. I would give them my highest recommendation.”
Thanks, Donald!
Value #5: Functional flow & vibrant living
The Columbia Project
Jodi from The Columbia Project shared the impact her newly designed home has had on her family’s life…
“We are 100% pleased with the design and would encourage anyone with a big job like this to reach out to Blakely. We continue to be impressed with the space plan and redesign they did that involved moving the kitchen, pantry and office spaces.
“The flow and functionality have increased so much that we notice our quality of life has also improved.”
That is music to our ears!
It’s one thing to hear positive feedback from clients during our work with them, but it’s quite another to hear how they are living in their homes and loving them long after we’ve left the premises. To us, that’s what it’s all about — inspiring your most vibrant living. It’s a destination, yes, but our rock-solid process and out-of-the-box thinking make your journey there equally as beautiful.
